project 4/ Bayards Hill Primary School

proposal C - complete reconfiguration

How can the school be completely reconfigured to create an 'openness' both to the community and for the children and staff?

This is the most extensive scheme. It will consider the broadest possible context of 'site' and may well extend out into Barton or beyond. It may be a series of annex type buildings which operate a dispersal proposal for the school, its pupils, teachers and associated staff. It is important to take a sustainable approach to this and consider the potential future of the existing buildings and what might be saved from them. 'Which of the existing buildings are valuable and why?' might be a useful point of departure, as well as how might they be redeployed?

This proposal might be considered initially as an urban design scheme. It will consider issues such as the problem of the school and the estate's social and physical isolation. It may also examine a utopian agenda for the school.

Well, I rushed into posting to request some pictures but as I can see now you have already uploaded them. Sorry for littering your blog with deleted comments!

However, reading about Barton area and the reconstruction of a school complex I couldn't help linking it in my mind with Tim Burton's chocolate factory!

How about adding a pinch of Burton to Barton? I can assure you that it would definitely be a school I'd like to attend :)

no need for apologies/ deleted comments show an attempt of feedback/ it is feedback after all, isn't it?

burton into barton/ that would be interesting/ i have engaged with the idea of burton's chocolate factory before/ surely, one of the most sweet utopian environments ever/ but then again, a pinch of burton's thoughts is always inside each one of us

your comment will be taken seriously in mind/ keep in touch!
